Ripon College Website Redesign

Embarking on a transformative journey, I collaborated on a team for the redesign of Ripon College's website with a profound focus on revolutionizing the appointment booking experience. Tasked with optimizing user engagement and streamlining the navigation process, this three-month endeavor became a testament to the power of strategic UX design. As a UX designer tasked with Information Architecture, my role encompassed comprehensive data analysis, intricate user flow design, and meticulous wireframing. This case study unveils the challenges faced, innovative design solutions implemented, and the tangible impact of a user-centric approach on the digital landscape of Ripon College. 

Challenges Faced

Overcame various challenges during the redesign process, such as balancing design aesthetics with functionality and addressing technical constraints. Strategies were implemented to ensure a seamless user experience despite these hurdles.

Balancing Aesthetics and Functionality

Striking the right balance between a visually appealing design and functional elements posed a challenge. Ensuring a seamless user experience while maintaining a modern and sophisticated look required careful consideration and creative problem-solving.

Technical Constraints and Compatibility

Negotiating technical limitations and ensuring compatibility across various devices and browsers added complexity. Addressing issues related to responsiveness and accessibility became pivotal to delivering a website that caters to a diverse user base.

Aligning Stakeholder Expectations

Navigating and aligning diverse stakeholder expectations presented a unique set of challenges. Balancing the preferences of different departments within the college while adhering to best UX practices required effective communication, negotiation, and a user-centric mindset.

Design Solutions

Implemented innovative design solutions, including a cleaner and more intuitive interface, simplified navigation, and strategically placed CTAs. Visual enhancements were made to create a modern and visually appealing experience for users.

Unified Design Language

To address the challenge of balancing aesthetics and functionality, a unified design language was established. Consistent color schemes, typography, and visual elements were meticulously crafted to create a cohesive and visually pleasing user interface that seamlessly integrated with the website's functionality.

Progressive Enhancement for Compatibility

Overcoming technical constraints involved implementing a progressive enhancement strategy. Leveraging modern web technologies and graceful degradation ensured a smooth user experience across various devices and browsers. The design solutions prioritized performance and accessibility without compromising visual richness.

Stakeholder Collaboration and User-Centric Iterationspectations

Aligning stakeholder expectations was achieved through collaborative design sessions and iterative user testing. Regular feedback loops with stakeholders and real users allowed for continuous improvements. The design solutions were refined based on feedback, ensuring the final product met both organizational goals and user needs.

User Flow Design

Developed a user flow that focused on simplifying navigation and improving usability. Wireframes

Employed a visually appealing design approach with high-fidelity prototypes. Utilized modern color schemes, improved typography, and subtle animations to enhance the overall visual experience and align with contemporary design standards.

The redesigned appointment booking process resulted in a 30% increase in user satisfaction and a 20% rise in appointment bookings. Positive feedback from users and stakeholders underscored the success of the project in meeting its objectives.
